Joe Elliott, President School Specialty Science

Joseph E. Elliott joined School Specialty Science as President in September of 2005. This newly created division of School Specialty, Inc. includes Delta Education, CPO Science, Neo/SCI, and Frey Scientific. Joe has been with School Specialty as President of Frey Scientific/Brodhead Garrett since January of 2005.

Joe has an extensive background including high-level general management, sales and marketing management, finance, operations, and product development experience in the education industry. Throughout his 30+ year professional career, Joe has been employed by a number of organizations including ACI Films, Films Incorporated, Coronet/MTI Film and Video (as President), and Encyclopedia Britannica (EB) where he was President of their Educational Division. At EB, he was instrumental in growing the hands-on science curriculum business (FOSS) from development to $12 million in revenue in two years. Most recently, Joe worked for the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, a non-profit provider of professional development/curriculum development tools for K-12 teachers and administrators and post-secondary teacher training.

Joe and his wife, Paula, recently relocated to Hollis, NH. They have been married for 35 years, and have two adult daughters. The elder is a Principal and the younger is a Vice President with an ad agency, both in the Chicago area. Joe has run in 22 marathons and enjoys backpacking.

 

Thomas Narro, Senior Vice President, Operations

Thomas Narro began working with CPO Science from the company's inception. His background includes several years with industry leaders in engineering design and analysis at Gibbs & Cox, acoustical consulting at HMMH, and organizational-design and management consulting at Korn/Ferry International. Since coming to CPO Science, Thomas has been involved in many aspects of growth of the organization from product and manufacturing process design to financial control and IT. Thomas holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His role is to control all aspects of manufacturing and product design to meet curriculum and strategic requirements. Specifically, Thomas manages, engineers and designs the Peabody manufacturing environment.

 

Lynda Pennell, Executive Vice President, Educational Products

Lynda has worked for CPO Science since 1999 in the capacity of product development management. Her background includes 17 years experience in urban education as a citywide administrator in a variety of areas including curriculum, business liaison and vocational education. She has served as the director of the Homebase Alternative School in Boston for older at-risk youth. Lynda has taught secondary English and reading and graduate courses in the area of learning and reading disabilities for Northeastern University. She has owned and operated an educational consulting business and has written materials on integration of academics and vocational education and project based instruction. Her degrees include: a BA degree in English, a Masters Degree in Educational Administration and Reading and a CAGS in Media (concentration in marketing). Her responsibilities include the conceptual design, planning, scheduling and supervision of staff and consultants for all print and media product development projects. Lynda supervises all marketing, graphic activities, as well as, ensures the execution of a smooth running CPO Science office.
